The painting in this frame is 1100 mm wide and 850 mm high, making it one of the larger examples of this style of painting clock music box. The music box is a Girod playing 4 tunes, automatically advanced one after the other, although as is usual, the repeat lever can be set to play the same tune. The clock strikes the hour and half hour and during the hour chime, a lever on the clock falls and pulls the music box mechanism into action via an attached silken draw string. The music box is a key wind version with access on the right hand side of the picture frame.
