Columbia Graphophone Model BS Coin-in-Slot 1900 -(USA)

The Columbia BS is a coin-operated version of the “Eagle” phonograph. The machine uses quarters, but originally accepted nickels and pennies. Security was considered even in those days with metal lugs attached to the bottom of the machine for attaching to a secure bench. The machine originally cost $US20.00 when first produced. They were very popular and owners of the “Eagle” accepted the $US10.00 conversion price for coin operation in order to turn their machine into a money making exercise.
