Organ and 6 Air Music Box 1880 – (Switzerland)

I have not been able to establish the maker of this very elaborate organ music box. The case is inlaid walnut of very high quality and the inside of the box, particularly the swell cut-outs for the organ are very well done fretwork. The organ plays 36 notes and there are two music combs, one for treble and one for the  base. The instrument is driven by two powerful hand cranked spring motors, which also drive the very large bellows for the 36 reeds. Often music boxes with organs are an acoustic disappointment, but this instrument never fails to please from its six tunes and very well balanced dynamic between the dual music combs and the reeds of the organ.
