Painting Clock Music Box 1830 – (UK)

The painting in this frame is 1100 mm wide and 850 mm high, making it one of the larger examples of this style of painting clock music box. The music box is an early Ducommun – Girod playing 2 tunes, automatically advanced one after the other, although as is usual, the repeat lever can be set to play the same tune. The clock strikes the hour and half hour.  The music box is an early string wind version with the string hanging through the bottom of the picture frame for easy access. Pull the string downwards and the clockwork spring is wound ready for the music box to play. The clock and music box are now working and the picture has been cleaned, careful to remove none of its patina. The case will need the age cracks repaired and the picture frame will be repaired and regilded as needed.
