Kalliope 1912 (Switzerland)

This Kalliope plays 33.5cm discs that have a central pivot and two drive holes. The motor is cranked with a handle that goes over the central pivot where the disc is centered. The music box has 10 recessed bells at the rear of the box accompanying the music comb. This Kalliope has a matching disc storage box with a central storage shaft with the original separation papers between the originally supplied 56 discs, all in as new order. Most came with a choice of pictures attached to the lid of the box for added beauty when the lid was opened. The start switch is on the right hand side of the box and can play once around a disc, or be set for continuous play (until the spring winds down) and the music ceases.
