This was an English made music box, most likely fitted with a Swiss movement from Reuge. This music box belonged to my maternal great grandfather who was Captain’s chef on the ship “Norfolk,” sailing between England and Australia. The music box contained 6 patriotic airs from Great Britain. Family memorabilia recounts that my Great Grandfather used to play the music box most nights after his duties were complete, to remind him of home and the family he was absent from. It remains in fine working order, but has lost its tune sheet many, many years ago before my stewardship.
